This trip offers you a little bit of everything – vibrant and modern life in the exciting city of Bangalore, wonderful old buildings in Mysore and Cochin, and fresh, unspoiled nature in Ooty. Glide on a houseboat on palm-fringed shores and enjoy it over the end of the golden beach of Kovalam.

Day 01: ARRIVAL IN BANGALORE (-/-/-)

Upon arrival at Bangalore airport, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Already on the way you catch a first glimpse of this cosmopolitan city, once the “Garden City of India”, but now the main center of IT industry in India, popularly known as the Silicon Valley of India.

Day 02: BANGALORE (B/-/-)

day-2After breakfast, we invite you to take a tour. Encounter sights such as the Lal Bagh, a beautiful garden with old trees, lotus pools and tropical and subtropical plants. The Maharaja’s palace awaits you. It is a smaller replica of the Windsor Castle in England. The Vidhana Soudha houses the State Legislature and the Secretariat. The massive sandalwood door is a spectacular feature of this imposing building, which is opened only after 15.00 hrs. Enjoy the evening and the twinkling lights of the metropolis.

Day 03: BANGALORE - MYSORE (B/-/-)

day-3After a hearty breakfast, the journey leads you to Mysore. On the way visit the fascinating city of Srirangapatnam, surrounded by the picturesque river Cauvery. The town got its name from the famous Ranganathaswamy temple. Also, the Fort of Colonel Bailey’s Dungeon is worth visiting. On arrival in Mysore check in at hotel. The rest of the day is free at your disposal.

Day 04: MYSORE (B/-/-)

day-4Mysore offers everything your heart desires. After breakfast, explore the city and surrounding areas. See the Palace of Mysore, one of the largest palaces in the country, and the Chamundeshwari temple atop a hill. Enjoy Brindavan Gardens next to the Krishnarajasagara below the confluence of three rivers. Shimmering silk, sandalwood from Mysore and crafts are widely known.

Day 05: MYSORE - OOTY (B/-/-)

day-5Today, the journey leads you to Ooty: on the way visit the Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary with its incredible variety of animals. Enjoy the freshness of the air and the relaxing tranquility. On arrival at Ooty, check in to hotel.

Day 06: OOTY (B/-/-)

day-6After a hearty breakfast, you can discover Ooty for yourself. Experience the unspoiled nature and learn something about plants in the botanical garden, where the fossil of a tree is found. The freshness and beauty of this place will amaze you. If you are in the mood for art and crafts, visit the Government Museum. The Ooty Lake invites you to go boating and fishing. If the latter appeals to you then remember to obtain a fishing license before you buy bait.

Day 07: Ooty - Cochin (B/-/-)

day-7After breakfast, head to Cochin. Enjoy this vibrant city on the Malabar coast, in the breathtakingly beautiful and prosperous
state of Kerala.

Day 08: COCHIN

day-8After a relaxed breakfast you embark on a fact-finding tour. First, observe Chinese fishing nets in Fort Kochi, which are in use only here outside China. It is believed that traders from the court of Chinese ruler Kublai Khan presented these nets here. Many fishermen earn their livelihood by fishing using these massive nets. Enjoy this special experience in the morning light.

The journey takes you next to the impressive Church of St. Francis. This is the oldest church built by Europeans, in India.The Portuguese trader Vasco da Gama was buried at St. Francis Church. Later his remains were taken back to Portugal. Nevertheless, his tomb was in the church is clearly labeled.

 

Next, visit the Jewish Synagogue, with its interesting Chinese tiles and Belgian chandeliers and explore the Jewish Quarter in Mattancherry.

 

In the evening, let yourself be enchanted by a Kathakali performance. Kathakali is a unique combination of literature, music, painting, drama and dance, and one of the oldest forms of theater in the world. Overnight at hotel.

DAY09: COCHIN – KUMARAKOM (B/_/_)

day-9A wonderful place awaits you, the village of Kumarakom in the backwaters. It is didden under the palm trees on the eastern shore of Lake Vembanad, at the mouth of the River Kavanar. Enjoy this wonderful place and catch a glimpse of authentic village life.

Day 10: Kumarakom - Kovalam (B/L/-)

day-10This day will be spent on the backwaters. Go onboard at 12.30, for a unique experience. A trip on a houseboat is a great way to capture the amazing beauty of the backwaters: take a look at rice fields and fish, if you like.

 

The houseboats have fully furnished single and double rooms with sundeck, comfortable chairs, kitchen and toilet. As atmospheric lights, traditional lanterns are used. The crew consists of a cook and two rowers. Enjoy traditional Kerala cuisine onboard. At 17.00 hrs you will be picked up from the house boat and taken to Kovalam.

Day 11 / 12: - KOVALAM (B/-/-)

day-11-12Welcome to India’s most spectacular beach. The deep blue of the Arabian Sea and miles-wide golden sand beaches. The surf roars hisses. Coconut palms, as far as the eye can see… A massive rocky promontory on the beach is a beautiful bay with calm waters ideal for swimming. The leisure options at this beach are sun bathing, swimming, herbal body toning massages, special cultural programs, catamaran cruises … Life on the beach begins late in the day and goes well into the night.

Day 13: DEPARTURE FROM KOVALAM (B/-/-)

After breakfast you will be transferred to the Trivandrum airport for your onward flight.
