On this trip you get to know all facets of Kerala. Experience the wonderfully unspoiled nature, visiting fascinating cities, enjoy a cooking demonstration of traditional Kerala cuisine, experience a day and a night on the houseboat and spend a night on the beach.

Day 01: Arrival In Calicut (-/-/D)

day-1Upon your arrival at the airport of Calicut you are greeted by our staff and accompanied to the hotel. On the way, you can get your first impressions of life in this region. The afternoon is free at your disposal.

Day 02: Calicut - Thalassery - Calicut (B/L/-)2

day-2After breakfast you will enjoy a trip to Ayesha Manzil in Thalassery. This is a beautiful, old colonial-style villa overlooking the Arabian Sea. It was built by a merchant of the East India Company, in the vicinity of the largest cinnamon plantation in Asia. This still exists and is the only one of its kind in Kerala. Enjoy in this magnificent setting a cooking day-2-1demonstration. The Malabar cuisine is known for its variety of pancakes and rice cakes made from ground rice. The food is generally mild and spiced lamb meat is cooked tender. Biriyani – whether lamb, chicken, fish or shrimp – is the specialty of Malabar cuisine. In the evening be enchanted by Kappad Beach, a beautiful beach near Calicut. It’s a great place where you can let your soul wonderfully. It is well served by public transport from the town, or you can hire an auto rickshaw.

Day 03: Calicut - Wayanad - Calicut (B/-/-)

day-3After a hearty breakfast, we invite you today on a trip to Wayanad. Look forward to a green paradise. Located in the mountains of the Western Ghats, this pristine country is full of history and culture. Wayanad is known for its hills shrouded in fog, its sprawling spice plantations, luxuriant forests and rich tradition. The district of Wayanad is also home to some of the oldest Native tribes in South India.

Day 04: Calicut - Cheruthuruthy (B/-/-)

day-4Today you travel to Cheruthuruthy. This village preserves the essence of the cultural heritage of Kerala. It lies on gently undulating countryside with greenery all around and is known for its Kathakali training center. Besides the musical soirees and concerts, check out the traditional handicraft products. Let us take you into a world of colors and shapes.

Day 05: Cheruthuruthy - Cochin (B/-/-)

day-5After breakfast, proceed to Cochin. On the way visit Kalamandalam, the state training school for Kathakali and other traditional art forms. Kalamandalam and its surroundings filled with the beauty of the artistic atmosphere are very refreshing. You can also see the Koothambalam, the only traditional dance-theater outside a temple complex.

Later, on arrival in Cochin check in at hotel. The rest of the day is free at your disposal. Enjoy the vibrant city on the Malabar coast in the breathtakingly beautiful and prosperous state of Kerala.

Day 06: Cochin (B/-/-)

day-6Today Cochin waits to be discovered by you. First, you encounter Chinese fishing nets in Fort Kochi, which are only in use here outside China. It is believed that traders from the court of Chinese ruler Kublai Khan presented these nets here. Many fishermen earn their livelihood by fishing using these massive nets. Church of St. Francis is the oldest church built by Europeans, in India. The Portuguese trader Vasco da Gama was buried in here. Later his remains were taken back to Portugal. Nevertheless, his tomb was in the church is clearly labeled.You will also visit the interesting Jewish Synagogue with their Chinese tiles and Belgian chandeliers and explore the Jewish Quarter in Mattancherry. In the evening, let yourself be enchanted by a Kathakali performance. Kathakali is a unique combination of literature, music, painting, drama and dance, and one of the oldest forms of theater in the world.

Day 07: Cochin - Munnar (B/-/-)

day-7After breakfast we start to Munnar in the green hills. Enjoy the journey forward to the beautiful landscape that passes by, and look forward to a cool green paradise full of tea plantations. On arrival check in at hotel. The rest of the day is free at your disposal.

Day 08: Munnar (B/-/-)

day-8Today we invite you to explore Munnar and Mattupetty lake and dam, which is about 13km away. Then move on to Rajamala, high up in the mountains. It is home to the mountain goat, “Nilgiri Tahr.” Enjoy the sight of these rare animals, of whose half of the world population lives here.

day-8-1The Eravikulam National Park is an ideal place to get acquainted with the biodiversity in this region. Experience the unspoiled nature up close. The National Park is closed at the time of calving of the Nilgiri Tahr, usually the first few months of each year.

Day 09: Munnar - Periyar (B/-/-)

day-9On this day, the journey leads you into the nature reserve of Periyar. Upon arrival in Periyar, check in at the resort. Large quantities of spices such as pepper, cardamom, etc. are grown here. You can also visit the 120 year old “Surki” dam across th

day-9-1e Peryiar. Thekkady has the famous Tiger Reserve. Observe wild animals during an evening cruise on the Periyar Lake.

Day 10: Periyar - Kumarakom (B/-/-)

day-10A wonderful place waits for you, the village of Kumarakom in the backwaters. It is hidden under palm trees on the eastern shore of Lake Vembanad at the mouth of the River Kavanar. Enjoy this wonderful place and catch a glimpse of authentic village life.

day-10-1On arrival check in at the resort. In the afternoon you visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary and enter the world of birds. Enjoy a walk among colonies of egrets and night herons and be inspired by the beautiful colors of a kingfisher.

Day 11: Kumarakom - Alleppey Houseboat (B/L/D)

day-11A cozy house on the water, a houseboat, waits for you today. Go aboard at 12.30 for a beautiful experience. A trip on a houseboat is a great way to capture the amazing beauty of the backwaters, take a look at rice fields and fish, if you like. The houseboats have fully furnished single and double rooms with sundeck, comfortable chairs, kitchen and toilet. As atmospheric lights, traditional lanterns are used. Enjoy the traditional cuisine of Kerala on board, while on the Vembanadu Kayal.

Day 12: Alleppey Houseboat - Kovalam (B/-/-)

day-12You wake up and the first thing to notice is the incredible tranquility. Look out the window and see the water and the palm trees gently pass over. After a hearty breakfast aboard the houseboat, you will be met and transferred to Kovalam. Welcome to India’s most spectacular beach. The deep blue of the Arabian Sea and miles-wide golden sand beaches. The surf roars and hisses. Coconut palms spread out, as far as the eye can see. A massive rocky promontory on the beach is a beautiful bay with calm waters ideal for swimming. On arrival check in at the hotel.

Day 13: Kovalam (B/-/-)

day-13Day at your leisure. There are many leisure activities at this beach such as sunbathing, swimming, herbal body toning massages, special cultural programs, catamaran cruises… Life on the beach begins late in the day and goes well into the night. In the evening a special treat waits for you — spend one night on the beach! Enjoy the adventure and experience as the special atmosphere andthe sound of the waves lull you to sleep.

Day 14: Kovalam (B/-/-)

day-14You wake up on the beach to the sound of the sea. After an enjoyable breakfast at the hotel, day at your leisure.

You will be transferred to Trivandrum airport for your onward flight.
